The thought that American soldiers are dying this Memorial Day weekend in another far-off place in another controversial war that our leaders can’t find their way out of is not just ironic or haunting. It’s insane.

Preakness Bleakness for Jockey Borel

As jockeys go, Borel is what college hoops fans would recognize as a “mid-major.” There was a reason he had never won a Triple Crown race before the Derby: He had simply never demonstrated the talent to move into the upper echelon of the jockey ranks.
